Fencing - Spring Session

Get ready for the spring session of fencing! Fencing is held on Fridays, 2:45 to 3:45, in the Laurel Multi. The spring session runs from May 5 through June 9, $120 (plus $10 if you do not already have a fencing glove).

PTO Committee Chairs Needed

Now is the time to volunteer yourself and others to chair a committee for the 2006-2007 Laurel School Year! Please look over the positions to be filled and return the committee chair form by Friday, March 31, to the Nomination Box (located in the Laurel office). Or, send an e-mail to PTO_VicePresident@laurelpto.org. Your involvement makes Laurel a great place for our kids!

Honorary and School Service Awards

You can acknowledge volunteers, teachers or staff whose efforts are extraordinary, through the annual Honorary Service Awards (HSA) and School Service Awards (SSA). Please complete and submit the nomination form to let us know who you think are the exceptional staff members or volunteers. Nominations are due in the Laurel office by Friday, April 7. Recipients will be honored at a district-wide award ceremony on June 1 and at the Laurel PTO luncheon on June 7.

Community Read Discussion Questions

We hope you are enjoying the Community Read selection, Owen Foote, Super Spy, by Stephanie Greene and Martha Weston. To help you get the most out of the Community Read experience, Lezlie Glare, our wonderful librarian, has provided some discussion questions about Owen Foote. You may even want to get together with friends and have a book discussion meeting!

Koski Photography Fundraiser for PTO

A $25 donation to our PTO entitles you to a professional photography session for your family, children or extended family reunion by photographic artists Jim and Linda Koski. Simply print the order form, write a $25 check made out to Laurel PTO and send it to the school office by April 7. You are under no obligation to purchase portraits. Art and Science Fair Volunteers Needed

The Art and Science Fair will be held on Wednesday, April 26, from 12 to 2:30 p.m. If you haven't yet signed up for this fun-filled afternoon of parent-led art and science workshops, now is your chance. Family Safety Day

The PTO is sponsoring a Family Safety Day on Saturday, March 11. This event will include a safety rodeo, a fire demonstration trailer, and Atherton police officers talking to kids and parents. Second Grade Sing at Little House

Mrs. Beckstrom and a group of Second Graders will go to Little House in Menlo Park to perform a short concert for Senior Citizens during lunchtime on St. Patrick's Day. This event will take place on Friday, March 17, from 11:30-12:45. Space is limited to 50 children. Additionally, parent drivers/chaperones are needed for this event.
