- Thursday, August 24
- 8:15 to 9:30 a.m.
- Second Grade Arbor
Please plan on attending the Back-to-School Coffee
on the first day of school. Principal Nancy Hendry
and PTO President Traci Brinton will give welcoming
remarks, and you can look over and sign up for
volunteer opportunities (such as Library, Hot Lunch,
Book Fair, Art & Science Fair, and many more).

kindergartens start at 8:15 on Thursdays.

|
School will soon begin, and we need your support
to make this another great year of learning for our
children! We encourage every family to join the PTO
Team for the 2006-2007 school year.

families have come to expect is a direct result of this
annual fund raising drive. Our theme this year is
Building a Winning Team, which describes the PTO’s
ultimate goal — to help our schools provide an all-
star educational experience for our kids.
Please print out the membership form, or go
online to join, and

A Message from the PTO President
|
|
Dear Laurel School Community,
It is that time of year, and our summer is wrapping
up! Now that you have enjoyed some quality time
with your kids, I wanted to let you know of a few
important upcoming Laurel activities.
Laurel is such a special place because of our parent
involvement. I hope you are excited about getting
involved this year. Many of the unique experiences
our children enjoy at school are a direct result of
your volunteer time. Plus, volunteering is a great way
to see your child in action during the school day.
Please look at the listing
of Laurel’s PTO Volunteer
Opportunities and find one or more that
might work for you.
We will once again be hosting a back-to-school
coffee the first day of school from 8:15 to 9:30
a.m., where you can sign up for many of the PTO’s
volunteer-run activities. If you are unable to
attend the coffee, please contact one of the
committee chairs directly to discuss how you can get
involved.
Please also mark your calendars for Back-to-
School Night on Thursday, September 7, at 7 p.m.
And don’t forget our all-school Quarter Gourmet party
the next evening, Friday, September 8, from 5:30 to
7:30 p.m.
Finally, we need you to join the Laurel-Encinal Team,
so fill out the PTO Membership Form and send
it in today!
The Executive Board and the wonderful group of
committee chairs for the 2006-2007 school year are
looking forward to working with you, and making this
year fun for all!
Traci Brinton

Laurel PTO Newsletter
|
|
The weekly email newsletter is the primary means of
communication for the PTO and the school. It
includes notices of upcoming events, volunteer
opportunities, safety information, schedule changes,
and much more.
On the first day of school, Thursday, August 24, all
students will get the last paper newsletter and flyer
packet of the year. After that, the Laurel PTO
weekly newsletter will be distributed primarily via
email, on Friday afternoons. Paper copies of the
newsletter and flyers will be available for pickup in
the office, but we will not send newsletters and
flyers home with your child each week.
Please make sure your friends and neighbors who do
not yet get the email newsletter subscribe as soon
as possible.
