Laurel PTO Notes
Library Permission Form
Please print out and complete the Library Permission Form, and
return it to your child's teacher the first week of
school. Once the form has been received, your child
will be able to check books out from our wonderful
Laurel Library!
New Library Volunteer Training
All new library volunteers must be trained, so please
attend one of the following two training sessions:
Tuesday, August 29, 8:25 a.m.
Thursday, August 31, 12:45 p.m.
Both sessions will be held in the Laurel Library.
Head Room Parents
The head room parent orientation meetings are
tomorrow, Friday, August 25, at 8:30 a.m. in
the Multi and Monday, August 28, at 7:00 p.m. in the
Library. If you volunteered and were selected to be
a head room parent, please choose one of those
sessions for orientation. If you cannot attend either
meeting, please contact Kelly Perri at 327-1345.
After-School Programs
Most of the PTO after-school programs will begin the
week of September 11-15. For a list of programs and
links to registration information, please review the Program Overview and Schedule.
Paper registration forms for most of these programs
are being sent home with your child today (with the
first-day-of-school packet).
Walk Pooling Program
We're looking for parents and kids who live within 1.5
miles of school to begin a walking school bus, picking
up kids along the route to school. Complete the
Walk + Bike Survey and help make your child,
yourself, your community and your planet a little
healthier this year!
Lunch and Snack
Don’t forget to pack a lunch for your child (AM
Kindergarteners will only need lunch on Thursdays)
and a separate snack (all grades) each day. The Hot
Lunch Program for first and second graders, which
runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, will
begin on September 12.
Afterschool Math
All children who are new to the PTO-sponsored
Afterschool Math program must attend a placement
session at Stanford on Saturday, September 16, 10
a.m. to noon for grades K-2, and 2-4 p.m. for grades
3-6. Returning students are also encouraged to
attend. The location details will be emailed to
parents who have registered. For details and
registration, go to www.foundationsforeducation.org

Join the PTO Team!
|
|
School has begun, and we need your support to
make this another great year of learning for our
children! We encourage every family to join the PTO
Team for the 2006-2007 school year.
The level of quality education that Laurel and Encinal
families have come to expect is a direct result of this
annual fund raising drive. Look at our list of PTO Accomplishments to see what we were
able to do last year, thanks to the generous support
of our PTO Members.
Our theme this year is Building a Winning Team,
which describes the PTO’s ultimate goal — to help
our schools provide an all-star educational
experience for our kids.
Please print out the membership form and decide
today how strong your support for learning can be!

Thank You - Back to School Luncheon
|
|
The PTO-hosted Back to School luncheon on
Monday, August 21, was a wonderful event to
welcome back all of the teachers, staff, and other
school employees and help them kick off a terrific
school year. Principal Nancy Hendry turned bright
red, but had a big smile on her face when everyone
sang Happy Birthday to her. A very heart felt thank
you to the parents and volunteers who gave their
time and donations to make this such a special
occasion for these cherished people at Laurel who
take care of our children.
