Laurel PTO Notes
No School Beginning Wednesday
Please note that there will be no school on
Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, for the
Thanksgiving holiday. In previous years, we have
not had Wednesday off, so please plan accordingly
this year.
Missing Metal Tub
Staff Appreciation is missing a very large metal tub
that was last seen in September in the Community
Room. This tub was purchased for
Laurel School to be used for drinks and ice for the
various events we host for teachers and staff. If
you borrowed this item, please remember to return it
promptly to the Community Room. Please email chazens(at)sbcglobal.net or slolson(at)pacbell.net if you have the container
or know of its whereabouts. Thank you!
Newsletter Deadline
Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, the deadline for
submissions to the November 24 newsletter will be
Monday, November 20, at noon. Please send any
articles to newsletter(at)laurelpto.org. The newsletter will
be distributed as usual on Friday, November 24.
Fall Clean-up Day
Fall Clean-up Day will be Saturday, November 18,
from 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at First Grade
Playground. We will be doing a variety of things from
cleaning ivy out of oak trees, trimming overhanging
plants, dividing perennials, sprucing up the area
outside the office with some new plants, and picking
up trash. Kids are welcome! Bring your gardening
tools!
KidsArt Fundraiser
The KidsArt Fundraiser products are here and are
being distributed this week. If anything is missing or
needs to be fixed, please put a note in the FIX-IT
envelope in the office or contact Sarah Wright, 328-
3755 or wright_sarah(at)sbcglobal.net,
Carol Kelly, 325-6702 or rolandandcarol(at)yahoo.com. A huge thank you
to all the volunteers who helped with the KidsArt
Fundraiser. Over 1,000 items were ordered, raising
over $4,500 for the Laurel PTO.

Bear Trees and earn money for Laurel school. The

Grab your holiday shopping list and head over to Palo
Alto Sport & Toy on one of their Laurel/Encinal
shopping days! You can also pick up gifts for the
Caring and Sharing holiday toy drive. Make sure to
mention Laurel or Encinal School at check out time so
we get credit for 10% of your purchase. The money
raised will be divided between the PTOs. Store

MPAEF Donation Day A Huge Success!
Many thanks to the Laurel community for your
enthusiastic support of the Menlo Park Atherton
Education Foundation (MPAEF) on Donation Day.
Over 350 families from across our district joined
forces to make donations toward our goal! Your
contributions will help the MPAEF reach our goal to
grant $2.0 million to the District and support quality
teachers in all four schools! Forgot to donate? It's

Keplers' Thanksgiving Story Time

Join storyteller Chelsea McNeel for warm, beautiful
stories about being grateful and being together.

and 10% of your purchases comes back to our
PTO.**
Twas the Night Before Christmas
The Dancers Repertory Theatre is producing ‘Twas
the Night Before Christmas. Performances will be
held on Saturday, December 9, at 12:30 and 3:30
p.m. and Sunday, December 10, at 1:00 and 4:00
p.m. at the new Woodside High School Theater.
Group discounts are available for 20 or more tickets.
This year's show includes several Laurel school
students. For tickets go to www.twasthenight.org or call the Menlo
Park Academy of Dance at 323-5292.
