Safe Routes to School Neighborhood Meeting
|
|
- Thursday, March 15
- 7 p.m.
- Laurel School Multi
Are you interested in having the ability to
safely walk or bike your kids to school? Do
you have concerns about the amount and speed
of traffic around Laurel? Do you have
questions about crosswalks, lighting, and
bike lanes around Laurel?
Community leaders, parents and schools across
the U.S. are using Safe Routes to School
programs to encourage and enable more
children to safely walk and bike to school.
This year, the City of Menlo Park has hired
traffic safety consultants to assist our
community in developing a successful Safe
Routes program specifically for our school.
The consultants, as well as safety and school
officials will be on hand to hear your input
and answer your questions.
Come and see what a difference we can make!

Eco Squirrel: Zero Waste Award
|
|
Eco Squirrel here to tell you that Laurel
School has received an honorary award for our
Zero Waste Hot Lunch Program! Sustainable
San Mateo County recognized us last month for
the work that has been going on at our
school. Nancy Hendry went up to the podium
to accept the award from former Assemblywoman
Jackie Spiers.
We all knew we were doing a good thing by
reducing trash, but it is nice to have some
recognition and help spread the word about
composting. Congratulations to all of the
students, the parent volunteers, Carl Jones
and Leo Mendoza and Nancy Hendry!
