Laurel PTO Notes
Art & Science Fair Sign Up Forms Due
Each Laurel student should have brought home
an Art & Science Fair sign-up form this week.
Please fill this out with your child's top
choices for workshops and return the form as
soon as possible, but no later than Thursday,
March 29, to your child's teacher. Children
who do not turn in a sign-up form will be
randomly enrolled in Art & Science Fair
workshops. If you need another form, or have
any questions, please ask your child's
teacher or email Celeste Baranski at celeste.baranski(at)gmail.com.
No Wheeled Shoes
Nancy Hendry requests that students not wear
shoes with wheels in the heels, or "Heelys,"
to school. If the wheels can be removed from
the shoes, please take them out before your
child comes to school. Along with bikes
and skateboards, it is just not safe for
students to use these wheeled shoes on campus.
Extra Clothes Needed
The office needs boys' and girls' socks,
girls' underwear, and usable shorts and pants
for both boys and girls. These are used when
students fall in a puddle or have a big spill
and need to change. The socks are especially
needed, we haven't a single pair!
Logo Wear
It's Field Trip Time and our teachers strongly
urge all their students and chaperones to
wear Laurel Logo Wear on the field trips for
easy identification and safety. Please order
your Laurel Logo Wear in the office or by
printing up the souvenir order form and bringing it into the
office. Contact: Elizabeth Shane, lizshane1963(at)yahoo.com.
Lost and Found
Please check the lost and found in the Multi
for any missing sweaters, jackets, lunch
boxes, etc. Your child may have left an
article of clothing that you haven't even
missed yet! Again, please mark all clothing
with your child's name so we can help items
find their way home.

HSA/SSA Nominations
|
|
Every year our district is lucky enough to
have parents, teachers, staff, and community
volunteers give of their time, skills, and
creativity to our schools. The Honorary
Service Awards (HSAs) and the
School Service Awards (SSAs) are our way of
recognizing those individuals who have
contributed in an extraordinary way to our
school district.
The HSA Nominating Committee relies heavily
on nominations from parents, teachers, and
staff to determine who should receive these
awards. Please submit your nominations by
Tuesday, April 17, to the
Laurel School Office. Either print out and
drop off the form or send your nomination(s)
via email to Traci Brinton at PTO_President(at)laurelpto.org.

Safe Routes to School
|
|
Last week's neighborhood meeting regarding
the streets that lead to our school was well
attended, and many people expressed
frustration with the situation. The unsafe
nature of these streets was cited as a major
reason parents chose to drive to school
everyday. This issue was also on the cover of
this week's Almanac, and included four page
story as well as a supporting editorial opinion.
If you were not able to attend the meeting,
but have input on this issue, please leave
these comments at
You can also fill out a comment card about
specific problems you see, and any
suggestions you may have to address them. The
comment cards, and box in which to leave
them, are located in the office.
This will be our only chance to fix the
obstacles that stand in the way of so many
children being able to walk and bike to our
school. With next year's attendance expected
to top 500, this problem will certainly be
worse if we don't give people other choices
by which their children can get to school.
This issue effects us all, whether you walk,
bike or drive to school.
