| MPAEF |
MPAEF Annual Giving Campaign's Success Depends on You! Thank you to the over 500 families from across the district who gave generously on Donation Day. While we made great progress, we still have a ways to go to reach our goal of granting the district $2.3 million dollars and reach our participation goal of 1,000 families. Together we can continue to support teaching excellence, technology for learning and curriculum enrichment for our schools. Did you know that this annual MPAEF fund-raising drive supports the salaries of our four wonderful district librarians? The MPAEF also funds the salaries of school personnel including 4 school-based technology teaching and support positions, 3 school-based science aides and district-wide technology and science coordinators. Join your fellow district parents in supporting our teachers and making our schools amazing places to learn! It's not too late to make your gift! Donate online by credit card at www.mpaef.org. Remember: eScrip can add to your generous support when you shop at local merchants. Find out how to register or renew at http://www.mpaef.org/eScrip.html.

Deadly Persuasion: What Advertisers Really Sell Our Kids
- Tuesday, November 13, 7 p.m. at Castilleja School, Palo Alto
- Wednesday, November 14, 7 p.m. at Crystal Springs Upland School, Hillsborough
- Thursday, November 15, 8:45 a.m. at Harker Middle School, San Jose
Our kids are under assault by advertisers; the average youngster is exposed to 3,000 ads a day, many sending strong messages about success, popularity and self-worth that shape values and undermine what we try to teach them about life, love, character and relationships. Jean Kilbourne, Ed.D., award-winning lecturer, author and documentary filmmaker and a pioneer in understanding the effects of advertising, will explore damage to our kids' hearts and minds caused by pervasive and persuasive ads. $20 at door. For information, go to commongroundspeakerseries.org.
