Volunteer Celebration
|
Thank you to the Laurel children and their families who helped celebrate all of Laurel's volunteers this past Tuesday after school. It was so much fun hearing the children give a big Hip Hip Hooray to Laurel's School Service Award (SSA) and Honorary Service Award (HSA) recipients. A special thank you to Noel Young and Carolee Hazard for organizing this warm volunteer celebration.
With the (enormous) help of our beloved librarian, Lezlie Glare, the PTO is thrilled to be carrying on the tradition of dedicating a book to each of the award recipients and having these books donated to our school library. Please enjoy the following new books in our library, and if you know some of these volunteers, we know you will appreciate the titles Lezlie carefully picked for each one -- except the book chosen for Lezlie, of course. She will be receiving a Golden Oak award this year, and, to her surprise, some of the parents in her fan club chose a special book for her. Mary Beckstrom - Explore Australia and Oceania Courtney Shackleton - Cork & Fuzz, the Collectors Dori Britts - Caring for Your Dog Chris Silva - Pinkalicious Rebecca Bloom - Baseball Bats Kim Steere - Caring for Your Cat Leslie Burke - La Rue for Mayor Christy Tonsfeldt - Go, Go America Carol Collins - Heart to Heart with Mallory Kristi Waldron - Gardening with Kids Beth Gallo - The Cow that Laid an Egg Julie Wong - Caring for Your Rabbit Pam Larkin - Giant Sea Reptiles Andrew Young - Quarterbacks Rob Lutge - Help Me, Mr. Mutt Noel Young - Still Just Grace Carolee Hazard - Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Catcher Nancy Hendry - Not a Stick Darcy Leschly - Pocket Babies Kindergarten team - Christopher Counting Andrea Mazzoncini - Extreme Dinosaurs Katie Ferrick - Dark Day in the Deep Sea Shana Middler - Purplelicious Andrea Palmer - Just Gracie Walks the Dog Cyndi Nolasco - More Stories Julian Tells Mary Picciotto - Don't Go Blump the Glump and Other Fantasies Carla Posthauer - Great Moments in the Olympics Parke Treadway - Clementine's Letter Renu Relan - Campfire Mallory Gina Watkins - Farmer George Plants a Nation Karen Rist - When Dinosaurs Came Lezlie Glare - Wildflowers Eileen Rozanski - Couple of Boys Have the Best Week Ever
