Don't forget Donation Day this coming Friday. We're prepared to
take your donation at either drop off or pick up. And remember that your
gift will automatically enter you in a drawing to win donated prizes.
Your gift matters when it comes to providing the high quality education
we expect and our children deserve. We're counting on you!
MPAEF Community Education Night is Wednesday, November
12, 2008
Join us for District Funding 101 at Hillview School library,

a documentary that explores the roots of California's education funding
crisis. A discussion with Ken Ranella, school board members, and parents

New Laurel Library "Take One, Leave One" Book Swap Program
|
Gail Bradley has started a new
book swap program "Take One, Leave One Box" at the Laurel library. Students may choose
a book from a box of
used books and return it anytime. If the student chooses, s/he may keep the book and replace
it with a used book from home. This program is perfect for those students who cannot check out due to
having an overdue book and they do not leave the library
empty-handed.
If you have any used books at home that are suitable for
grades K-2 and wish to donate them to the "Take One, Leave One" box,
please let Gail Bradley know at gbradley( at )mpcsd.org. Thank you!

| Lite-Duty Volunteers Needed! |
| Do you have a moment to occasionally check the 2nd grade recess equipment, pump-up balls, and generally keep items organized? If you can stop by once a week, or every other week, or even sometime, please contact Priscilla Seely at pseely( at )mpcsd.org. |

Chevys Days
Mark your calendars - Chevys Days are back and just
in time for conferences! On Monday, November 17, 2008 and
Wednesday, November 19, 2008 Chevys on El Camino in Redwood
City will donate 25% of all Laurel & Encinal proceeds to the
PTO. Join us for a minimum day lunch or a post soccer dinner -
the event runs all day from 11a.m. to 10 p.m. Remember to bring the flyer with you to the
restaurant. The PTO can only be guaranteed credit when it's presented
to your server. Bring your friends and your family - we'll see you
there! Box Tops Winter Drive The first drive for the Box
Tops fundraiser was a great success! With Encinal bringing in over
4,000 Box Tops, and Laurel tallying over 3,000, we've
already earned almost $800! We're still $700 short of
our goal for the year, and we still have two drives to go,
so keep collecting, everyone! Remember, the
proceeds from the Box Tops Fundraiser support all the activities our Laurel and
Encinal PTOs provide for our schools, so keep clipping and saving
your Box Tops, and send them in for the next drive which ends on February
18, 2009. For more information please contact Amy Barry at aminibarry( at )hotmail.com. Support Our Schools While You Shop
Again this year we have partnered with Keplers to give back to our schools when we support their business. When you shop at Kepler's, please remember to mention Laurel or Encinal School at checkout, and they will give 10% of your purchase to our PTO. |
Last Chance to Order Your Mini-Directory
|
If you would like a directory small enough
for your glove compartment or purse/bag they are available for only $5.00! Samples, order forms/collection
envelopes are in the front offices of both Encinal and Laurel (checks made out
to Laurel PTO, or cash). Today is the last day to place your order, but if
you can't make it to one of the schools, email Carla Posthauer at cjpost( at )pacbell.net over the weekend.
