Holiday Trees & Wreaths
 
It's that time of year and once again Honey Bear Trees on Woodside Road in Redwood City has generously offered to donate 15% of all Holiday Tree and Wreath sales to the Laurel and Encinal PTOs.  Their trees really are fresh and beautiful, so if you haven't been there before it's worth a stop.  To ensure the school gets credit, bring your flyer with you or ask for one at checkout.  Happy Holidays!
Yard Duty Volunteers for Staff Holiday Luncheon
Do you have 45 minutes in the middle of your day to help watch our children at recess?  On Friday, December 5th, the Executive Board and Committee Chairs are hosting a holiday luncheon for the Laurel staff, and we need parent volunteers to cover lunch recess so all of the staff can enjoy the luncheon.  We need 8-9 volunteers to cover: 1st and 2nd Recess: 12:00 - 12:45; Kinder Recess: 12:20 - 1:05 (ideally 3 volunteers per playground).  The best part?  We'll treat you to lunch!  Come join the luncheon and help yourself to tasty home-made soups, salads, etc..! Unclaimed Items
Missing A Bowl?  Leave a Platter at School?  These items (bowls, platters, serving utensils, etc.) are at Laurel and continue to remain unclaimed.  All items are in the kitchen in the multi, on top of the metal storage unit.  Please claim them!  Any unclaimed items will be donated, or moved out, on Friday, December 5th.
PTO Winter Craft & Bake Sale
This year's sale is being held on Friday, December 12th, in the library.  Help support the PTO by donating homemade crafts, gift items and baked goods.  Crafts and gift items can be dropped off at the library Thursday, December 11th after school or Friday morning in the carpool lane.  Baked goods should be dropped off on Friday morning.  Volunteers are also need to help collect goodies in carpool, work at the store and clean up.  Please contact Natanya Shiah at bnoshiah( at )yahoo.com (Please note corrected email address) or 321-1283 if you would like to volunteer.  Thank you for all your support!
Winter Sing
Mark your calendars for the annual Winter Sing at Laurel!  It will be held on Friday, December 12th in the Multi at the following times: 
  • Kindergarten:  10:45 a.m.
  • First Grade:  8:45 a.m.
  • Second Grade:  1:00 p.m.
Laurel Newsletter Article Deadline - November 28th
The deadline to submit articles for the November 28th Laurel Newsletter will be on Monday, November 24th, due to Thanksgiving break. Please email newsletter( at )laurelpto.org with any questions.

Wabi Sabi is at first glance the story of a small cat in Japan searching for the meaning of her unusual name. Wabi Sabi's journey of discovery is told in haiku and illustrated in lush collage by Caldecott medalist Ed Young.

Recycle Soccer Uniforms
 
Join with other AYSO families and recycle your child's soccer uniform at the close of the season.  All recycled uniforms will be consolidated and donated to www.soccerwithoutborders.org, a San Francisco not for profit that uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change in the lives of marginalized youth. Cleats and other soccer gear can be donated, too!  Collection boxes are labeled and on campus near the school office until November 25th. If you have any questions, please contact recycle( at )mpsoccer.org.  
 
Breakfast with Santa

The City of Menlo Park is hosting this annual event.  Activities will include a pancake breakfast, letter writing to Santa, holiday crafts & music, visiting with Santa, and a fun time with friends and family.  Reservations are available by calling (650) 330-2200 or online.

Palo Alto YMCA

Redwood City YMCA 
Basketball sign-ups for the Redwood City YMCA end December 12th.  Kids can sign up individually or as a whole team.  New this year is a girl's only league for ages 6-8.  Register on the YMCA website at www.sequoiaymca.org.

MP Strikers FC Tryouts
