Traffic Safety Panel Discussion
  • Wednesday, January 28, 2009
  • 6:45 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Whether you DRIVE, CARPOOL, BIKE or WALK your children to school, this discussion is for you!  We are all concerned about traffic safety around our schools, and there are a number of factors that can make the area around Laurel School particularly hazardous.  The Laurel PTO has assembled an expert panel of traffic safety professionals from the local community to share with us the latest news and answer your questions regarding car and bike safety laws, right of way, hands-free cell phone laws, booster seat laws, and the Safe Routes to School Initiative.  Please join us in the Laurel School Multi on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 6:45 p.m. to have these questions and many others answered.

The Traffic Safety Panel will include:
  • Jerry Gruber, City Manager, Atherton
  • Duncan Jones, Director of Public Works, Atherton
  • Rene Baile, Transportation Engineer, Menlo Park
  • Representatives from the Atherton Police Department, Menlo Park Police Department and California Highway Patrol
Babysitting will be provided free of charge.  RSVP with the names and ages of  your child(ren) to becjackson( at )comcast.net by Friday, January 24, 2009.

Transporting our children safely to and from school is a top priority for all of us.  Please join us for this important discussion.

MPAEF News
MPAEF New Logo Thanks to the generosity of several families, we've initiated a Bonus Pool to help strengthen our yearly campaign. Any new donation, regardless of size and made by first-time donors after January 1st, will trigger a corresponding gift of $100 from our Bonus Pool. Therefore, a gift of $150 will automatically become a $250 gift, thanks to the bonus pool. A $50 gift will automatically become a $150 gift.

We've completed our Phone-a-thon and will share results as soon as they're tabulated. In the meantime, if you want to donate, go to www.mpaef.org/donate. No gift is too large or too small and all gifts are put to productive use as we strive to continue the tradition of excellence in our District.
Thank You!
