| Help Build Our Schools Brick by Brick |
Here's the upside of
construction on campus: while beautiful, spacious new and
upgraded facilities are being built at each district school
campus, you have a unique opportunity to leave your mark and
support our district at the same time. Now is your chance to buy a
brick with a personal message which will be incorporated into your school's
construction and be a permanent part of our new campuses. Bricks are
available at each of the four schools: Laurel, Encinal, Oak Knoll and Hillview.
Buy one for the family, one for each child at
each school, or honor a teacher or staff member. It's easy at http://www.bricksrus.com/order/MPAEF/. This is a one time opportunity with a limited number of
bricks on each campus. In
addition, your total $100 brick donation is
fully tax-deductible and net proceeds will
support our district through the Menlo Park-Atherton Education
Foundation. Please follow the instructions
on the website and remember to return to the bricks-r-us website after
payment to complete the sale.
If
you have questions, please contact Laurie Sapp at sapp_laurie( at )yahoo.com.

Traffic Safety Discussion
|
If you couldn't make it to the Rules of the Road: Traffic Safety
Discussion last week, you can learn some of the important safety tips
shared with us by the experts by reading the meeting summary. Topics
such as cell phone use while driving, proper booster seat use and bike
and auto safety were covered, as well as an update on the Safe Routes
to School plan.
Thank you to Mari Chazen for taking notes and putting together such a helpful summary to share with our entire community! |

Classroom Project Update!
Given
the economy and our desire to simplify Foundation efforts for our volunteers
and our donors, we've decided to go forward with classroom projects in a
scaled-down way this year. We'll only be creating and selling classroom
projects in the kindergarten and 5th grade classes.
Assuming success with our
"project in a box" approach (project supplies and directions provided
for each classroom) as well as a stronger economy, we hope to roll
classroom
projects back out to all grades in 2009-2010. The Kindergarten Projects
will be sold at the individual school open houses and an order form
will go home for the 5th grade
project in the April timeframe. If
you have any questions about this change, do not hesitate to contact
our
classroom projects coordinator, Eugenie Atherton at eugenie( at )athertons.net, or
the Foundation office at foundationoffice( at )mpaef.org.
