Spring Fling TONIGHT!  5:00 p.m., See You There!
You won't want to miss Laurel's Spring Fling tonight at 5:00 p.m.  Bring the family, a picnic, a blanket and a dessert (finger-dessert, please) to share.  Join us as we wish our Principal, Nancy Hendry, a fabulous retirement.  Guaranteed to be a fun time as well as an historic event all rolled into one!

Current Laurel students need to be in their classrooms by 5:15 to get ready for performance with Mrs. Beckstrom!
Site Council Survey - Please Respond!
Each year, the Laurel School Site Council launches a survey to obtain feedback from our parent community.  In order to be responsive and see that our goals are aligned with the needs of the greater school community, guaranteeing School Improvement funds are spent wisely, Laurel's Site Council will analyze, evaluate, and respond to survey results at the beginning of next year.  We will use the information to plan for the 2009-10 school year and beyond.

If you have more than one child at Laurel, please complete the survey based on the child whose birthday comes first after today.  Click on this link to complete:  Laurel School Site Survey

Congratulations to all Laurel School Service Award and Honorary Service Award recipients! Each recipient has had a book donated to the library by the PTO in his or her honor. Recipients, please enjoy the book and return it to the Laurel Library by today.

ALL LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE NOW!

Please help your students find their library books and return them to the library ASAP.  Thanks to all who have already returned their books.  Once all the books are in, we can begin inventorying the collection and find out what is missing or "lost" on library shelves because it is in the wrong place!  Thanks for helping keep our library in order for all the children to enjoy books.

Pancake Breakfast:   Sizzling Success!
Over 600 members of the Laurel and Encinal school community braved near-record temperatures on May 16th to attend the 4th Annual Pancake Breakfast, which raised about $1500 for PTO programs for both schools.

Thank you to the numerous wonderful student and parent volunteers who set up in the early morning, registered attendees, flipped pancakes, fried-up bacon, poured beverages, mixed batter, washed strawberries, served the food, and cleaned up all the mess.  Thank you also to Cafe Zoe
MPAEF News
Thank You!

The Foundation would like to thank all its wonderful donors and volunteers. Without your support throughout the year we wouldn't be able to provide the consistent level of funding to help bridge the gap for our schools. We plan to grant the District $1,790,000 to support Librarians, Science Aides, and other personnel that make the education experience better for our students and their teachers. We're also proud to announce Scott Lohmann and Gaurang Desai will be our co-Presidents for next year. The board and staff wish everyone a happy and relaxing summer break!
