Laurel School Newsletter
A Message from Leslie Burke, PTO President
Dear Laurel families and friends,

On behalf of the entire PTO Executive Board, I would like to thank the many parents, staff and community members who have been so generous in sharing their time and talents during this school year. Whether you chaired a PTO committee, volunteered in the classroom, drove on a field trip or simply joined the PTO, your contributions have made a difference in the lives and education of all of our children.

The end of this school year is bittersweet, as we wish a fond farewell to our retiring principal, Nancy Hendry, and prepare for the many new and exciting things in store for Laurel School in the next school year.  When you return to school, there will be a new principal, Linda Creighton, campus construction, Spanish Immersion Kindergarten classes, and preparations for some of next year's second graders to become the first third graders at Laurel the following year.  It will be an exciting year, and our PTO is in great hands with the incoming PTO executive team, led by one of Laurel's most dedicated volunteers, Carla Posthauer.

Have a wonderful summer vacation!

Leslie Burke
PTO President

Laurel Summer Office Hours

Garden Work Days and Summer Harvest Festival
Though the school closes down for the summer, the Encinal Garden continues to grow and thrive in the summer heat. The students at Encinal have completed the summer plantings, which will be ready for harvest at the end of the season. We have planned the following work days over the summer, culminating in the Summer Harvest Festival just before school reopens.

2nd graders from Laurel will be experiencing the garden program for the first time this fall. But you don't have to wait until school reopens! Over the summer, join us for the Garden work days -- no gardening experience is necessary. If you enjoy spending time outdoors with your kids, this is for you!  Bring the whole family!
