A Letter from Principal Linda Creighton

Dear Laurel Families,
I hope you and your families have had a wonderful start to the new school year! As a part of the Laurel School Community, we are so fortunate to have such bright, wonderful children and highly involved families, not to mention an amazing staff! I am also grateful to the PTO for helping our educators and support staff. The PTO supports Laurel in two major ways. First, they provide hundreds, if not thousands, of hours of volunteer time to the school in the classroom, the art room, library, afterschool care, yard duty, program planning and program execution. This relieves some of the load from our teachers and frees them up to focus more on your children, what they are learning as well as enhancing their ability to learn. I think that is our primary job and the PTO helps us focus on that. Second, our PTO provides financial support to fund programs that enhance our top priority and support the curriculum that is being taught. This year the PTO will pay for bus transportation to field trips as a result of a new district-wide directive. The PTO funds our assemblies, field trips, the community read, library books, Art & Science Fair, recess programs and our beloved Mrs. Beckstrom for music.
The Laurel PTO's objective is to have each and every family join the PTO in the membership drive that ends on Friday, September 25. Know that when you join the PTO, you are contributing directly to the programs that impact your child(ren). If you have not joined, please do so now by filling out this membership form or by donating online (click the "Join Your PTO Now!" button). Thank you!
Kind regards,
Linda Creighton
