Special Study Session:  Thursday, February 25th
The reduction of $1.4 million in State funding coupled with the District's need for an increase in expenditures of approximately $500,00 to accommodate our growing enrollment has produced a projected District budget deficit for the 2010-2011 school year of roughly $2 million.  Thus, the School Board will hold a Special Budget Study Session on Thursday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Laurel Multi to present to our school community the various options to help balance their budget for next year. The meeting is for all the families in the District so come early to ensure parking and a seat.

Green Tip of the Week

DO NOT DUMP unused prescription medications in your garbage, or in the toilets - it ends up in our water system, and therefore in your bodies and those of our children!  The two closest drop-off locations are the Atherton Police Department front foyer at 87 Ashfield Road, and the Palo Alto Regional Water Quality Control Plant at 2501 Embarcadero Way, across from the golf course.  See www.baywise.org for more information about how to protect our water source.
Art & Science Fair:  Volunteers Needed!
Bob sled racing, electricity, paper airplanes, bread making, sugar eggs, puppet making and much, much more! This fun filled morning gives parents (and grandparents, aunts or uncles too!) a chance to be the teacher!  Volunteers run 30-minute art or science workshops to four groups of 12 kids.  Not to worry -  we provide the all workshop content and detailed instructions!

INTERESTED?  Contact Carolee Hazard at carolee1@yahoo.comPlease provide the following information:  Do you prefer art/science/either?  Would you like to lead/assist/either?  What grade(s) is you child?

In the meantime, there is still time to donate a party or getaway to this year's auction.  We've already received many fantastic donations from parents and teachers in our community.  But, as Billy Idol's Rebel Yell goes, we can still use "More, more, more..." to help raise money for our schools!  Please contact Celine Sanie with your contribution by Friday, February 12th or click here for more information.  Event sponsorship opportunities are also still available.  Email Lois Giovacchini or call at 650-325-0100.  Thank you!
